Simplify your data center architecture and operations with Cisco Nexus 2000 Series Fabric Extenders, which are based on the emerging standard 802.1BR. As part of the Unified Fabric pillar of Cisco Data Center Business Advantage, these fabric extenders offer the agility to meet the evolving needs of your organization and applications.
Feature and Capabilities
Cisco Nexus 2000 Series Fabric Extenders are designed to provide connectivity for rack and blade servers, as well as converged fabric deployments. You gain a consistent, unified server access platform that scales across a range of connectivity solutions, including:
100 Megabit Ethernet
1 Gigabit Ethernet
10 Gigabit Ethernet (copper and fiber)
With a broad range of configurations, Cisco Nexus 2000 Series Fabric Extenders offer:
Architectural flexibility
Highly scalable server access
Simplified operations
Business agility
Cisco Nexus 5000 and Nexus 7000 Series Switches act as parent switches for the fabric extenders. These switches provide a single point of management and fabric extensibility, up to the virtual machines in a rack.
With Adapter FEX technology, the server adapter can be logically partitioned into multiple virtual network interface cards (vNICs). VM-FEX provides the switching of virtual-machine traffic in hardware switches, instead of using a software switch within the hypervisor.
Greater performance can be achieved by efficiently consolidating the virtual and physical access layers, using 10 Gigabit Ethernet bandwidth.
Clear Choice for Migration to 10Gb Ethernet (4:13 min)
NetApp chose Cisco Nexus 2000 FEX for management simplicity and easy migration to 10GbE, consolidating two data centers into one.
