Now Available: Virtual Training Service Offerings

In response to customer feedback to reduce time in the classroom, as well as costs associated with training, we have created Virtual Training Service (VTS) offerings. VTS refers to training sessions that are focused on single topics, thus shorter in length and delivered virtually thru Cisco’s WebEx application. These sessions cost less than a five day course, reduce your time away from the office and do not require travel. Go to Virtual Training Services for more information on what is currently available.

ASE training courses focus on the deployment and integration of Cisco advanced technologies. Classroom sessions, led by Cisco ASE team members, include intensive, hands-on lab work on network connectivity, device configuration, and troubleshooting.

Offerings by Technology

The Curriculum Planning Review (CPR) service aims to improve performance for those deploying or supporting IP networks by identifying training gaps and solutions. CPR can help create fast track educational programs for acquiring necessary skills along with providing customized road maps for establishing long-term staff training goals.

Cisco Technical Knowledge Library (TKL) is a collection of knowledge and best practices designed to provide end-users with access to valuable Cisco intellectual property, helping them to avoid common problems, and reduce their learning curve on Cisco products and technologies. TKL contains a wide range of technical white papers, design guides, and video-on-demand based on breadth of optimization experiences of Cisco Advanced Services. Other content includes Cisco press titles, case studies, validated configurations, and self-study guides. TKL is organized into five solution modules - Wireless, Security, Network Infrastructure, Collaboration and Data Center. This new presentation format will enable IT professionals in charge of today's networks to quickly locate the technical and operational guidance they need by architectural solution. By modularizing TKL content, Modular Knowledge Services (MKS) is available for customers who are interested in targeted contents. The TKL service is available as part of a Network Optimization Service (NOS) subscription or Networking Learning subscription contract, and the content is continuously refreshed to align with the latest technology trends and architectural designs. TKL is accessible through Cisco.com.

Each VTS offering includes the following:

  • Virtual Classroom Environment using WebEx
  • Course duration that ranges from 4 to 6 hours in length over a 1 to 2 day time period

Cisco Technical Education (CTE) is a new online e-learning offering that provides your network staff, such as field technicians and operations, access to a variety of technical training modules, including the same break-fix and new product introduction (NPI) training used to train Cisco´s internal technical support engineers. This offering complements the formal training and virtual training services that are available today by extending the reach of ASE training to customer staff who are normally unable to attend the instructor-led courses.

Cisco Technical Education includes the following features:

  • Currently over 10,000 training modules. Each module is no more than 20 minutes in length to allow for just-in-time training opportunities by staff.
  • Training guidance is provided in the form of training road maps which group selected training modules in a logical, progressive order to create e-courses and e-curriculums.
  • Customer administration features such as tracking student progress on training modules, and overall utilization of the CTE by all authorized students.
  • Online access to Cisco equipment to perform self-directed hands on lab practice.
