Application eXtension Platform Partner Program

The Cisco Application Extension Development Partner Program gives you the technical and marketing support you need to develop and distribute Cisco Application Extension Platform (AXP) applications and solutions. You can participate as a customer, systems integrator, service provider, or independent software vendor. The AXP Development Partner Program provides technical documentation, software development kits, developer community support, training, and other technical support.

Developing or porting an application to AXP requires some specialized knowledge and, in most cases, minimal effort. The following section outlines the process of becoming an AXP development partner.

  • Stage 1: Evaluation Stage. In this free stage, there is no implied marketing relationship between Cisco, customers, and partners. This allows potential AXP developers to evaluate the AXP product with a minimum investment of resources.
  • Stage 2: Productization Stage. This is the point at which an AXP developer has committed to supporting and maintaining their software on AXP. The developer is then required to join the Cisco Developer Network (CDN) program at the Registered Developer level. (See details at the bottom of this page.)

Stage 1 - Evaluation Stage

  1. Step 1: Please review the Cisco AXP website.
  2. Step 2: Submit an official AXP Developer Evaluation Request.
  3. Step 3: Once you complete Step 2, you will receive an automated email reply from the system, informing you of next steps. These include links to download the free VMware version of AXP, support documentation, an SDK, and more. Any further progress is determined by AXP marketing, as described in Step 4.
  4. Step 4: The AXP product marketing team will review each evaluation request, and grant temporary AXP developer authorization keys upon approval. This may take up to 48 hours and possibly longer, depending on the type of technology being proposed. NOTE: You will NOT be able to continue until you receive AXP developer authorization keys. Unless otherwise noted by AXP product marketing, it is recommended that you wait for approval before ordering an AXP product.
  5. Step 5: Once you receive the AXP developer authorization keys, you can continue with the development exercise by procuring the SDK and documentation (as described in Step 3).
  6. Step 6: After evaluating the AXP product, if you wish to continue on to the Product Development stage, you must submit an application to the CDN program, as described in the New AXP Developers steps outlined below.

Stage 2 - Product Development Stage

This stage varies, depending on your current status.

  • New AXP Developers
    1. All new AXP developers must submit an application to the official CDN program. New AXP developers will, by default, be placed into the CDN program as Registered Developers.
    2. The Cisco Technology Developer Program (CTDP) is being deprecated. Existing CTDP partners with AXP designation should migrate to the CDN program as soon as possible.
  • Current AXP Developers
    1. All AXP developers must enter the CDN program as Registered Developers.
    2. Graduating to Solution Developer or Preferred Solution Developer CDN tiers is reviewed, and is based on a structured point system enforced by the CDN program team. Graduation also requires AXP product marketing approval.
    3. AXP developers should familiarize themselves with the CDN program guidelines.
